The infinite depth of space, the swirls of the various galaxies and the beauty of earth communicate perfectly the loving care our Creator God bestowed upon the universe. I Am the Creator begins with the Scriptural account of creation, vividly brought to life by the illustrations of John R. Bell, and naturally segues into discussing the scientific wonders of creationism. The contribution of water to life, the variations within the earth, and the complexity of the human body are all briefly highlighted as giving evidence for a divinely orchestrated world.

Yet, the aim of looking at creation is to bring glory to God, and the author ensures that children gain a solid understanding of who He is and humanity's relation to Him. A chapter with easy-to-understand answers to basic bible questions (such as 'What is hell?' and 'What is baptism?') fittingly completes the book with an invitation to accept the God of the universe as Lord of your heart. A page of ten research/project questions are included in the back.

Regarding the text, "I Am the Creator", author Kimberly Tatham has done an excellent job in crystallizing the broad and complex field of creationism into a format easily accessible for those students (home school or Christian school) in upper/advanced primary grades. Not only does she open the eyes of her young readers to some of the great wonders of creation - from the size of the universe to the internal functions of the human body - but she captures that wonder in the second half of the text by inviting readers to know more about the God of creation. Creationism is like looking at the thumbprint of God, and once you see it you're compelled to want to see more of God. Thus we're treated to a classic, evangelical invitation to see the Creator through Jesus Christ. Parents who are concerned about the rampant presentation of evolution in the classroom can take great comfort in this introductory text, knowing that it upholds the grand doctrines of "first things" as well as readying their children for the realities of the "last things".
